About Us

Old Vines, is Maine’s first-ever traditional, European style Wine Bar.  It  is located in Lower Village, Kennebunk, on Port Road.  Old Vines is the perfect place to taste that new wine, have a Maine-fresh light meal, or linger with friends in a relaxing environment.  The renovated barn that houses Old Vines has been designed to impart a hint of sophistication in harmony with that rustic, down home friendliness associated with the Maine coast.

Looking Over the counter towards the back. Vintage Wines. The 36-seat wine bar offers an interesting and unique array of wines, hand-crafted beers and light cuisine prepared to compliment both. You will want to visit Old Vines on those evenings when you want “something special” but do not want to break the vacation budget.  Not only will you enjoy unique wines but our menu will offer simple, delicious food that will satisfy the hungry traveler and provide taste sensations that cannot be duplicated at home.

Old Vines is not a restaurant that serves wine nor is it a bar that serves food. It has an upscale feel without being pretentious or intimidating.  The combination of food and wine available will make it an ideal destination for friends looking for a relaxing place to visit over wine, a place to have a small bite, or a perfect spot to meet for a drink before or after dinner.  It is our goal to provide an alternative to the more expensive high-end restaurants.

Lower Village. Old New England charm.Mike Farrell has over 7 years of experience in the food and hospitality industry.  He received a culinary degree from the Institute of Culinary Education in New York City.  Upon getting his degree he spent time in some of New York’s top restaurants, including The Four Seasons, Eleven Madison Park and Five Points.  He then left the restaurant business and spent 2.5 years at Merck Pharmaceuticals as a Sous-Chef in their private dining facility for upper management.  It was there that he learned the finer points of upscale creative cuisine.  Having to prepare food for the CEO, VPs and lobbyists, he was exposed to the finest ingredients available, as well as, learning about wine.  It was at Merck where he honed his management skills; as the Sous Chef at Merck he supervised a kitchen staff of 6 under the direction of the Executive Chef.  In 2006, Mike and his wife, Jodie, decided to relocate to Maine.  The move was a lifestyle change.  In Maine, he worked as a line cook at Pier 77 in Cape Porpoise.  After two seasons at Pier 77, Mike took a position as Sous Chef at the Wells Beach Steakhouse.  After spending a full season there he decided to fulfill his ambition to open Old Vines.
